The OABC hosted its first-ever Renewable Energy Series on Sunday, October 22nd. The event opened with a keynote speech delivered by H.E. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Mahrouqi, Chairman of the of Public Authority for Electricity & Water (Diam).


The keynote was followed by a discussion panel moderated by OABC Board Member Dr. Michael Tsang, owner of Three Pillars Consulting, and featuring Eng. Yaqoob Al Kiyumi, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at the Oman Power & Water Procurement Company; Qais Al Zakwani, Executive Director of the Authority for Electricity Regulation (AER); Dr. Sausan Al-Riyami, of The Research Council (TRC);  OABC Board Member Dr. Firas Al-Abduwani, CEO of HTC; and Jonathan Bolton, Chief Technical Officer (CTO) for Symtech Solar MENA. Khalifa Al Mukheini, Managing Director of SIMPA-Energy and our former Board Member, hosted the event.

Delivering the keynote address at the Renewable Energy Series on Photovoltaic Solar Power, organised by the Oman American Business Centre, PAEW Chairman, Mohammed Bin Abdullah Al Mahrouqi, said: “with the level of solar energy density in Oman being one of the highest in the world, renewable energy will play an increasing role in our energy future.”

This event was the first of what we hope will be many more important sessions about renewable energy in the Sultanate.  With almost 190 attendees, chairs being continuously added, and a great variety of guests, one could feel the energy in the room.  If you weren’t able to come this time, we hope to see you at the next one in 2018!
