“Spotlight on The U.S. – Oman Free Trade Agreement:  Contributing to Bilateral Economic Growth”

The Oman American Business Council has launched an awareness and training program focusing on the U.S.- Oman Free Trade Agreement. The project aims to contribute to enhancing the business relationships between the U.S. and Oman by helping increase awareness and understanding of the Free Trade Agreement. Specifically, this multi-faceted project will create the tools and resources that will assist in growing Omani exports to the U.S., increase U.S. sourcing, support FDI and ultimately create more jobs for Americans and Omanis.

This program is being funded through a grant from U.S. Embassy Muscat. The majority of programs will be free to participate and open to all nationalities and business sectors that have an interest in business relationships between the U.S. and Oman. Program Core Components

Export Readiness Assessment – This survey has been designed for companies who are just starting to or considering exporting to the United States. The purpose of this survey is to identify companies to take part in the 2-day, executive export training and enhance our programs and available information for Omani and U.S. businesses. Businesses can access the survey here. 

Interactive Online Seminars – This series of 5 webinars will cover critical facets of the FTA and is ideal for any U.S. or Omani organization considering trading between the 2 countries or those just looking to expand their understanding of the FTA. The webinars are free to participate and open to all, but you must register in advance.

The sessions include:

• Introduction to the Oman – U.S. Free Trade Agreement – completed.
• The Rules of Origin– completed.
• Understanding Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures & Technical Barriers to Trade – completed.
• An Introduction to Exporting to the United States – completed.
• An Introduction to Sourcing from the United States – completed.

In-person Export Training – This two-day workshop designed for executives of Oman based companies that are ready, or close to ready to export to the U.S. This is a free workshop and limited to just 20 participants.

AmCham-Jordan and trade experts have designed this specialized course to help export practitioners to understand the advantages of trading with the U.S. – one of Oman’s leading trading partners and the world’s largest economy.

The interactive training will cover topics on market access, sales methods and finding leads in the U.S. as well as practical skills on how to communicate and negotiate with potential U.S. partners.

The 20 companies participating in the training will also benefit from the export audit assessment. AmCham-Jordan will utilize a specialized audit toolkit to evaluate the readiness of the companies to export to and enter the U.S. market. The audit will also include identifying any challenges or areas that need to be improved to be able to be ready to embark the export journey.

U.S. – Oman Free Trade Agreement Awards Gala – This VIP event will recognize those Omani and American companies that are demonstrating best practices when it comes to using the Free Trade Agreement. Please contact us if you’d like to be nominated for an award or sponsor this incredible evening.

FTA Guide – This “brochure” will be available in both English and Arabic, digital and print in Q3 2023. It will provide essential information on using the FTA as well as highlighting best case practices amongst American and Omani businesses.
