Matt Olson is the Chief Financial Officer of Masaken Group. He is a shareholder representative of Abela Group of Companies (including Abela Qatar International, Arab Investment Group, and Shaqab Abela Catering). He has served in this capacity for almost three years.
Prior to his role as CFO of Masaken, Matt was Finance Manager at Technique LLC, a Muscat-based trading, services, and contracting company, for six years. He also served as Acting General Manager periodically.
Matt has been a Board Member of United Facilities Management Services (Como) since 2020, and he works closely with the company’s managing directors and finance team. He has been an active member of Oman American Business Center since 2016.
Matt graduated from Babson College, Wellesley, Massachusetts, USA, in 2003 with concentrated studies in Accounting, Finance, and Economics. He has had close ties with the construction industry in New Hampshire, where he worked as a project manager and financial advisor for Asher Homes. He has worked closely with Form-Up Foundations in an advisory and management information systems role. He has also worked for Lavastorm, a data analytics company in Boston, MA, USA, as Chief Accountant, overseeing business operations the Swedish, Australian, and Singaporean offices.
In his spare time, Matt enjoys teaching personal finance and coaching others on their financial journeys. Living in Oman since 2013, he has coached many Omanis and expats, with a focus on Small & Medium Enterprises, including mentorship through Al Wathba Academy in partnership with Bank Muscat. He is passionate about finance, cash forecasting, financial profitability, efficiency metrics, audit, and robust management practices.
Matt is married to Rebecca Olson, the Chief Executive Officer of the OABC, and together they have three children: Jude (8), Samuel (5), and Theodore (2).
