The Oman American Business Centre (OABC) invited partners, members and special guests to celebrate Thanksgiving, one of America’s much-loved holidays, which focuses on gratefulness and community.
Held at the Grand Hyatt Muscat, the event offered guests time for business networking, a brief discussion on US Thanksgiving traditions, and of course, a joyous celebration over a delicious turkey dinner.
Rebecca Olson, Executive Director at OABC, said, “Thanksgiving is a special time of the year when communities come together, so the event gives us an opportunity to bring our members and friends to network and connect with one another.”
She added, “I am truly thankful for how far we have come as an organisation since 2003. Since our last Thanksgiving dinner, the OABC has gained over 70 new member companies. It is incredible to be a part of this growth, as we all come together not only to network, but to form a community — a voice for the private sector in Oman.”
OABC works to bring American businesses and local communities together to exchange knowledge and insight.
The organisation recently launched a mentorship programme focused on providing mentees, primarily Omani SMEs, with the necessary skills to help them think holistically and practically improve their businesses. As part of the evening’s agenda, one of OABC’s programme mentees, Ahmed Al Kindi, co-founder of Metamorph, a local web and mobile application development start-up, was given the opportunity to share his experience.
He said, “It has been remarkable being a part of the mentorship programme so far. My mentor, Fouad Murr, helped me look at my business with a bird’s-eye view and see the big picture, and I am so thankful to him and to the OABC for this opportunity to gain knowledge from the community.”
